Following the massive redevelopment of Shibuya PARCO in Osaka, Daimaru, one of the anchor tenants, features branded shop-in-shops including Hermès. Measuring 515m2 (5,543ft2) across two floors, the store is the largest in the region, and next direct access indoors from the department store, it boasts its very own entrance on street level on bustling Midosuji dori. The interior design, created by French architecture practice and long-time collaborator RDAI. The windows in the façade are embossed with a wavy motif, and inside, along the entire length, handmade braided strings are suspended, as a nod to their origin in the Edo period.
Similar to other Hermès stores, the entrance floor is embellished with an Ex-libris motif and mosaic tiles. In different sections across the ground floor various Hermès products can be found, ranging from its famed silk scarves and fragrances, to women’s and men’s apparel and shoes. At the back of the store, shoppers find three box-shaped showcases for the brand’s equestrian gear, jewellery and watch collections. Up on the second floor a plush customer service space can be found, furnished with comfy seating and a service counter.
