Selfridges has inked a deal with flexible workspace company Fora to redevelop a 1950s building located on the corner of Duke Street and Oxford Street. The plans involve creating 45,000ft2 (4,180.6m2) of office and retail space across the street from Selfridges’ Central London flagship store. The ground floor will remain as shops, with Selfridges expecting it to house up to four retail units. Meanwhile, Fora, which has ten offices in London, will take over the remaining floors to create a mix of shared and private workspace in the heart of London as well as two floors of event space. The project is due to complete in August 2021, and marks Selfridges’ entry into a completely new area. The plans are also part of Selfridges’ bid to rejuvenate the area surrounding its Oxford Street store.
