This Award recognises the important role of marketing campaigns for department stores, to create footfall, increase conversion rates and sales, as well as connect with existing and new customers.
Berlin 2024
Winner: Kaubamaja (Estonia)
Finalists: Woolworths (South Africa) and Galeries Lafayette (Qatar)
For its 'Uues Kuues' campaign, the first of its kind - blending artificial intelligence with human creativity, Kaubamaja won the 'World's Best Marketing Campaign by a Department Store 2024'. Erkki Laugus and Britta Ratas, respectively CEO and Marketing Director of Kaubamaja, received the Award from Jury Chairman- Adrien Seugé, Chief Marketing Officer Omni-Channel of L’Oréal’s Luxe division. Woolworths' festive campaign with a sense of humour - 'This is How We Do It' and Galeries Lafayette Doha's unique 'Silly Monsters' were the other two outstanding finalists, represented by Unisha Singh, Head of Marketing, Special Ocassions & Africa of Woolworths and, Kevin Gerard Pender, General Manager of Galeries Lafayette – Doha, respectively.
Toronto 2017
Winner: Selfridges (UK)
Finalists: Rinascente (Italy) and Myer (Australia)
For its 'EveryBODY' campaign, a multi-faceted campaign that marked the opening of the Body Studio in London, Selfridges won the 'World's Best Department Store Campaign 2017. Anne Pitcher, Managing Director of Selfridges, received the Award from Andrew Jennings, Jury Chairman. Rinascente's campaign 'Enjoy the Front Row' and Myer's 'Give Registry' were the other two runner-ups.
Rome 2015
Winner: Woolworths (South Africa)
Finalists: Central Department Store (Thailand) and El Palacio de Hierro (Mexico)
Woolworths won the Award for its 2014 Christmas campaign and Marketing Director Charmaine Huet accepted the prize and presented the strategy of their last Christmas Campaign; she explained how her team was able to combine creativity, passion, emotion and commercial success. She was later joined on stage by Woolworths Group CEO Ian Moir. During the evening, all three finalists Woolworths (South Africa), Central Department Store (Thailand) and El Palacio de Hierro (Mexico) were welcomed on stage by Jury’s chairman Helmut Merkel and shared with the audience their great campaigns.
