- Background: Selfridges is introducing six new labelling categories, doubling its Buying Better labelling scheme.
- Description: First launched in 2017, Selfridges' Buying Better labelling scheme highlight specific sustainable product attributes, including reducing waste, forest friendly, cruelty free, vegan, responsible leather, saving water and supporting local communities. With the expansion of the scheme, the labels now appear on over 3000 products at Selfridges from over 100 brands within homeware, fashion and beauty. The introduction of the initiative come after Selfridges' own research found that 74% of consumers believe that retailers can do more to educate and guide consumers to shop more sustainably.
- Impact: The expansion of the scheme more than doubles the scope of the Buying Better initiative in store and online, thereby educating and guiding customers to make more informed and eco-conscious decisions when shopping.
